Beta Reader Tips

Wondering what it takes to be a beta reader? Want to become a beta reader? Want to know what a beta reader will be doing to your fic? This should give you a few ideas.

Writers University - Beta Readers

Some other tips:

-Be very good at grammar, better than you were at school. Be prepared to have to adhere to grammar and spellings from other countries, not all the beta readers are from the United States.

-Be quick. Don't accept the job, and take months to do it. If you run into problems, keep up the communication with your writer, they are quite understanding.

- Don't mock the writer. Encourage them with constructive criticism, not assassination.

- Don't be too picky, it may take some of the creativity out of the fic. In some cases, the grammar and spelling are intentionally that way, make sure that you understand the context in which it is used before you critique.
